Work to save and change lives continues in the face of pandemic
The coronavirus is threatening millions of people already vulnerable due to food insecurity, malnutrition and natural emergencies, climate change and other disasters. As the economic toll of COVID-19 began to hit Albania, many families found themselves in need of food assistance.
Thanks to the generous support of the German Embassy, ADRA Albania worked around the clock to deliver food for the Roma and Egyptian community living in the Administrative Unit 8 of Tirana.
On April 16, 2020, ADRA Staff with the premises of the community facilitator and with the close support of Mr Zingraf and Mr Dango, respectively the German Ambassador and the Administrator of Unit 8, delivered the first out of four food aid planned for the next 2 months, with personal protective gear issued to all the staff.
The packages consisted of staple foods such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, tomato sauce, flour for 35 families, enough for two weeks.
Aside from food supplies, next week, ADRA Albania will deliver hygienic products such as shampoo, soap, dishwashing soap etc.
The families were so grateful to the German Ambassador and ADRA Albania for the work done.
